Overview

The Roomba® s9+ Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal is the newest, robot vacuum from iRobot. It combines the Roomba s9 with a docking station that automatically cleans itself.

This 9550 model is an upgrade of iRobot’s previously most advanced I series Roomba i7+, and features Wi-Fi connectivity and imprint technology for intelligent mapping of the floor plan for your entire house. With this baby, you don’t have to touch it for about a month and it will keep your floors clean on it’s own.

40X Power than Roomba 600s

If Roomba I series can give 10X more suction power than Roomba 600s, iRobot has incorporated a paramount power motor on the Roomba S9+ model. Stated by the brand, this Roomba s9+ can deliver up to 40X power compared to the basic Roomba 600s.

iRobot Most Advanced Robot Vacuum Yet | Roomba® s series

Roomba s9+ applies the smartest sensor technology (VSLAM) to collect data and create a real-time mapping of your houses. Once the map is completed, you can customize, set the virtual boundary, select areas for cleaning.

Interestingly, Roomba S9+ can communicate with iRobot Braava Jet M6, a wet mopping with similar sensor technologies, to clean and wet mop the house in sequence (Imprint Link technology)

With a new D shape design, Roomba S9+ cleans edges perfectly. It also has a bigger extractor couple (30% bigger than Roomba 900 series) and uses a HEPA filter to capture allergens.

With all of these improvements, you can virtually forget about vacuuming the house for weeks.

However, the price of Roomba S9+ is relatively expensive for a vacuum — with a retail price of nearly 1300 dollars (but you can almost always get it on sale at Amazon). If you do not need all of the fancy features, there are quite many affordable robot cleaners that you may consider.

Technologies and benefits of Roomba S9+

Stays in bounds with Keep Out Zones | iRobot® Roomba® s series

Construction

Roomba S9+ has a D-shaped design, this is the first time iRobot applies such design for its robot vacuum. The D-shaped robot vacuum cleaner can clean the edges and corner better than the circular unit. Over many years, only Neato has such design (Neato Botvac D5, D7 models). Roomba S9+ dimensions are 12.2 x 12.2 x 3.5 inches.

Stated by iRobot, Roomba S9+ can deliver 40X suction power compared to the Roomba 600s series.

Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal

The dirt disposal bin of Roomba S9+ can hold for up to 30 bins of dirt, pet hair (600 mL x 30 times). After the bin is full, it will automatically return docking for self-removing the dirt, dust, and hair on its own. This feature is very exclusive to Roomba S9+ and i7+.

HEPA filter

The HEPA filter has been used for Roomba 900s, Roomba I series, Roomba E series, and this series. The HEPA filter is more efficient to keep the allergens than the AeroVac filter (used on Roomba 600s, 700s series) and AeroForce filter (Roomba 800s series).

Edge cleaning capability

The D-shaped design combined with advanced sensors helps the robot to deep clean corners and along edges.

vSLAM navigation sensors – the best sensors for robot navigation

vSLAM has been known as the most advanced sensor technology used in the robot vacuum which is more accurate than infrared sensors and laser sensors. The Roomba S9+ uses VSLAM, combined with imprint mapping technologies to give you a more personal adjustment. You can choose which room to clean and when once the robot has mapped the floors.

Wifi connection – hand-free control

With a smartphone, you can control, schedule cleaning for your robot.
