Overview

When it first came out, the iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum was among the most advanced robotic vacuum cleaners. The iRobot Roomba 980 has since been discontinued as of September 2018.

Newer model Wi-Fi Connected Smart Robot vacuums from iRobot include the Roomba s9+, Roomba® i7+ and the Roomba® i7. The older Roomba® 960 is still among iRobot’s highly rated models.

The Roomba 980 boosted a better lithium ion battery for longer run time (up to 120 minutes), additional sensors and power to clean carpet and rug better. However it was very pricey and costed nearly a thousand bucks new. Yes, there are new advanced Roomba’s today that cost that much, but they have more features to go with that investment.

This older model Roomba is still available at some places who got their hands on excess stock, often at a lower price because there are newer models. If you are considering purchasing one of those, or already own the 980 Roomba and are considering a switch, you’ll need some information to help you decide.
