This unit is particularly useful for those who have limited space for storage for 2 machines.
On the other hand, Bissell 24A4 does not have 2 mode cleaning and it is also a heavy weight machine. Therefore it is may not be the first choice if you are going to be using it a lot and weight matters to you.

Bissell DeepClean Deluxe™ Pet 24A4 vs 36Z9 – What’s the Difference?
The biggest difference between the Bissell DeepClean Lift-Off® Deluxe Pet (24A4) and the Bissell DeepClean Deluxe™ Pet (36Z9) is the ability to separate the unit into a separate portable carpet cleaner which makes the 24A4 model more efficient for spot cleaning, stairs, upholstery and cars. The Lift-Off® Deluxe also comes with a Pet Stain Eraser Tool.
The 36Z9 does have a slightly more powerful mower (7 amps vs 6.7 amps) and a larger tank capacity (1.25 gal vs .75 gallon) compared to the 24A4. It is also a little lighter (25 pounds vs 26 pounds).
