Summary

Overall rating: 9.2/10

Shark Navigator ZU561 is the next generation of Shark Navigator, featuring the new technology for self-hair removing called Zero-M.

It has strong motor power, lift-away feature, brush on/off benefits, and still very lightweight (about 13.4 lbs). Besides, the Zero-M technology reduces the hair wrapping issue to some extents.

Shark Navigator ZU561 can be a good option if you are seeking for an affordable full-size vacuum for robust performance in long time. It is flexible to work as an upright, canister vac and very lightweight to maneuver.

Shark Navigator ZU561 still have downsides. Actually, the hair still wraps around the brush bar if it is long hair or there are a lot of hairs on carpets, bare floors. Also, the cord seems a little bit shorter (around 25 ft) and it seems harder to push and pull on the carpet.

On the overall, it is a nice upright vacuum with a super strong power that can be used as the main vacuum, it still has limitations compared to Shark APEX Duoclean series.

Should you get Shark Navigator ZU561 in 2019?

Shark Navigator ZU561 is a nice option for general use since it has all of the benefits of a great vacuum. However, it does not have the most advanced feature like Duoclean brush roll, noise reduction or LED lights.

If you are seeking an economic model with no specific requirement, Shark Navigator ZU561 can be a worthy investment in 2019. If you want a more advanced unit, lets have a look at the Shark APEX Duoclean models.

A: Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away, Zero-M Anti-Hair Wrap Technology has amazing suction. It is so powerful that it feels like it is pulling you.

A:  We do not have the decibel level for the Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away and Zero-M Technology.

Q: does zero m prevent long hair from wrapping around the brush?

A: No – although it does seem to help a little compared to the Dyson Pet Model this replaced. We.ve only had this 2 weeks.

Q: What’s the difference between ZU651 & the ZU560?

A: Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away, Zero-M Anti-Hair Wrap Technology. The main difference between the 3 models is the color. The other difference is that the ZU561 includes one additional attachment. It is the Wide Upholstery tool.

A: The main difference between the Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away and Zero-M Technology, ZU561, and the Shark Navigator Professional Upright Vacuum, NV360, is the Zero-M Technology.

Carpet

Q: Does this work on high pile carpet?

A: Yes. It works well on my frieze carpeting

Q: Does it work well on a thick, shag-like carpet?

A: Yes. I had just bought the vacuum when we decided to get new carpet and the carpet folks told me I could not use it but it works great for me. We got a much better carpet than we had before.

Q: I have a thick shag carpet. Will it be able to handle that?

A: I believe so.. while I do not have think carpet, I have noticed the suction is good and hence with the brush rolling, guess it should work just fine…

Q: Does the power brush attachment pick up pet hair from carpeted steps? We have a Labrador whose brown fur sticks to our carpeted steps.

A: The power brush is very effective: the dust cup was full after two cleanings of our carpets.

However, this vac is heavy and might be difficult to maneuver on stairs.

Q: Do you need to push a button to go from carpet to hardwood?

A: There is a switch, but this is misleading because the only difference between the hardwood and carpet setting is how fast the beater bar spins.

Q: Does this work well on very plush-dense carpets?

A: very well

Q: Does this vacuum cleaner have enough suction to clean a carpet?

A: Just purchased but so far so good.

Q: Does this vacuum work well on thicker or high pile carpets? I have hardwood, tile, low pile and high pile carpets in my house. Will this work well?

A: We have two large shag area rugs. One is 2 inches pile the other 1.5-inch pile. It does an amazing job. The cup fills with so much dust. I use it on full suction for a deep clean and medium for a less thorough touch up. I love it. We have 4 kids, a construction company, and a large house. No complaints.

Q: When I vacuum my carpet it is very hard to push the vacuum even if set at minimum. Will this get easier?

A: I did not have that problem. Maybe if you play with the band that has minimum – maximum adjustment it will eventually work out. Sorry I could not be more help.

Q: Does it pick up kitty litter?

A: Yes!!! I even have thick carpet and I can hear it getting sucked up! So satisfying to hear it!

Stair

Q: Does the power brush attachment pick up pet hair from carpeted steps? We have a Labrador whose brown fur sticks to our carpeted steps.

A: The power brush is very effective: the dust cup was full after two cleanings of our carpets.

However, this vac is heavy and might be difficult to maneuver on stairs.

Q: What attachments come with this vacuum?

A: The usual attachments. A small angle attachment to get in the crevices, an attachment that has the brush on the head about 2 inches long, a 4-inch wide attachment for stairs and another 4-5 inch wide attachment for upholstery or curtains.

Q: do you carry the shark apex duo clean zero-m

A: It is a stand-up and you can carry it when you do stairs and window ledges.
