FAQs and troubleshooting of Hoover Floormate FH40160PC
Q: Compare FH40160PC to FH40030
A: I am sorry – this is the only Hoover FloorMate I have owned.
Q: How does this model (Hoover FloorMate Deluxe) compare with other models Hoover has for tile floors?
A: The ease of operation cannot be beat. A simple movement of switch takes care of everything, however I cannot compare this product with any other since I have not used any other such item.
Q: How does it compare to the old Hoover FloorMate?
A: It’s much better, it doesn’t release too much water so it’s easier to operate
Q: Have a very large tiled kitchen/dining room to clean. How does this compare to a steam mop? Which would be better?
A: It cleans very well and suction pulls up 90% of water. Only negative about this machine is the cord is too short.
Q: I’m having a hard time deciding between this and Hoover’s WH20440PC. Has anyone else compared the two models, or similar ones?
A: Apple and Oranges. The FloorMate puts water on the floor and then vacuums the dirty water up. I think the other one is a steam cleaner. The water is so hot, it comes out as a vapor and dries by it’s self.
Q: Can anyone compare the Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner, FH40160PC to the Hoover Spin Scrub Model FH40010B??
A: Hoover Spin Scrub Model FH40010B larger cleaning head, heavier and its tanks are a pint smaller. But it is still a very good cleaner.
Q: How does this compare to the Bissell powerfresh steam cleaner? This has no mop…whatâs the difference?
A: I do not know anything about the Bissell powerfresh steam cleaner, but this is the best for tile floors. It has two chambers. on one side, you use the Bissell cleaner solution and water. then you start cleaning pushing out the solution on the tile. and then you change from cleaning to drying.
Q: Is it loud?
A: No as loud as my vacuum cleaner. Pretty comparable to that noise.
Q: How is this machine a “labor saving device” compared to moping with a regular heavy duty mop, when considering maintenance and use? Honest question.
A: Moping with a regular heavy duty mop requires you to carry mop and bucket everywhere you go. It also requires you to wring it out and go over the area a couple of times. With the Floormate, everything is done at once. Floor is scrubbed and the dirty water is sucked up, fast and easy.
Q: How tell difference between brushes
A: the one brush is much finer than the other one.if you compare the two by feeling them, you’ll be able to tell the lighter duty compared to the heavier duty brush
Q: What is the difference between models FH40160 and FH40010B?
A: From what I can find the FH40010B has a vacuum feature while the FH40160 does not. I searched on Amazon for both models and compared them.
Q: How is this different from the Hoover floormate with spinscrub? Is it the vacuum?
A: Hi! The only difference between the two is design and tank capacity. The FloorMate Deluxe has a larger tank capacity compared to the SpinScrub.
Q: Does this scrub grout and tile – clean better than the bissell crosswave? mine just broke and i am looking for something that works better – thank you!
A: I never used the Bissel crosswave, so I canât compare it. This is the second Hoover I have and I always have a great experience. It doesnât do a dip grout cleaning but it will scrub the floors. I hope that helps.
Q: What’s the difference between the FH40010 and the Deluxe FH40160 besides price?
A: If you go to Hoover.com, you can compair both side by side. Looks like 40160 gives you a tile and grout brush, and maybe holds more fluid.
Q: I’m looking for something light weight and will scrub the patterned grooves.
A: I don’t have the carpet cleaner so I can’t compare them. This machine is definitely smaller and lighter, especially if you don’t transport it full of solution. I am happy how it ckeans my tile floor and the tile brush included.
Q: can you use Murphy oil soap in this machine ?
A: If there is wax or oil in that soap it will clog the filter. When the filter clogs, water cannot be vacuumed efficiently. You can use non-Hoover cleaners but they need to have a low viscosity comparable to what Hoover uses. I would buy an extra sponge filter before experimenting.
Q: Topical sq. Ft. of floor per water change.
A: This thing is amazingly efficient. I use the water shot a lot and I still get a good 150 sq feet out of it at least. It uses an amazingly small amount of water, especially compared to earlier models and other brands.
Mine lost suction after about a year. Any troubleshooting advice?
Answer: my machine would not dispense water, I sent back. I felt the old machine I had was great.
Question: Water only comes out sometimes when I press the bottom and it leaves streaks everywhere! Any advice?
Answer: I have not had this problem. Sorry unable to advise you.
Question: Can one get a set of floor polish brushes ?
Answer: I believe you can search amazon first then contact based on the owners manual
Question: I have laminate 18″ square with synthetic grout. Any have this combination and have success?
Answer: I have laminate and it works great. I wish the water container was bigger. Takes two fills to do my floor. No scrubbing with hands and knees approach…
Question: I have laminate 18″ square with synthetic grout. Any have this combination and have success?
Answer: This Hoover product does not work. Brushes keep falling out. I threw it away and got Bissell which is a dream.
Question: Has anyone had issues with the clean water tank emptying/draining out when the cleaner is not in use? There is a puddle of water on the floor now.
Answer: That issue is addressed in the owner’s manual. When not in use, keep a towel under it for a day or so to gather the water that is still draining. It hasn’t been a problem for us as we’ve used their advice. By the way, I love my floor cleaner.
Question: How is it on wood floors ?
Answer: Not sure, we have tile, but would imagine it would be perfect. There are YouTube videos on it cleaning wood floors.
Question: Does Hoover consider Amazon to be an authorized retailer, dealer or distributor? If not the documentation asserts the warranty does not cover the prod
Answer: I do not believe Hoover considers Amazon an authorized dealer…when you purchase from amazon you agree to the terms of the seller and or amazon itself, any warranty is through them not Hoover. If you want the warranty for this product ( I feel it is cheaply made) you should go through Hoover directly.
Question: Is anyone having an issue with the rubber scraping the floors and leaving marks?
Answer: I have not had any problems with my machine.
Question: Will this clean under the kitchen cabinets with a 2 1/2″ high overhang?
Question: Does this work on vinyl plank flooring?
Answer: As long as your flooring can take getting wet, it will work well.
Question: What’s the capacity of the dirty water tank?
Answer: ? The same as the clean water tank. When itâs empty the dirty one is full and you change both at the same time.
Question: Does it vacuum too or just clean?
Answer: It does but you shouldn’t use it that way and I’ve had four of the and blow up also had the same issue all four has the same issue they stopped working after three or four times using it
Question: I only used mine twice. And it wonât turn on. Any ideas?
Answer: These Floormates used to be the best thing ever, but no more. They have cheapened up the way they are made now and they no longer work for any length of time. My first one lasted five years before it stopped sucking up the dirty water; my next one never did suck up the dirty water
Question: Has anyone used this on a brick floor?
Answer: I never used on brick but I have tile that’s made from slate and is uneven and I used the floor mate on that. I may take slightly longer to dry because the squeeze part that helps dry floor may not have full contact
