FAQs and troubleshooting of Bissell ProHeat 2X 1986

Will this work well for my 8×10 area rug too?
Answer: I believe it will. If it is a low nap rub. I used it on a high nap rug . It was a little to tall, but cleaned it.

Question: Can you really take the whole lid off the dirty water tank to clean it out with a brush? Or can you only open the spout to pour out the dirty water?
Answer: Yes!!! The to tank is for clean water & removal is easy for cleaning!!! Bottom tank is separate & also easy to remove & clean!!!

Question: What is the difference between the bissell 2x pro-heat 1548 and the 1986?
Answer: the 1986 has pre-treater and more tools, the 1548 does not have pre-treater

Question: can deep clean antibacterial liquid work in a pro hea revolution?
Answer: Yes, in fact a sample bottle came with the carpet cleaner.

Question: Would this work on tile or only carpet?
Answer: I have only used this on carpet.

Question: wheres the savings?
Answer: In doing it yourself over against hiring a professional. Do not assume amazon is the cheapest, quite often it is not.

Question: what is the drying time for a typical medium pile wall to wall carpet ?
Answer: If you do the deep cleaning and not the quick cleaning, it took mine about two and a half hours. I go over the cleaned spots three to four times or until I can get little to no water out of the rug

Question: How hot does the water get ?
Answer: It uses hot tap water only.

Question: Does it work well with longer fiber carpet? My original cleaner has spinning heads and they won’t turn due to the length, hoping this might?
Answer: I have an inch thick carpet and works great!

Question: Does this cleaner come with a warranty?
Answer: yes! and it does what it claims.

This has no heater according to specs? Is this true. How does the water stay hot?
Answer: You fill the water tank with hot, not boiling, tap water along with the solution prior to cleaning. After a few runs over the carpet it does feel hot to the touch. I would imagine if you had to do several rooms, the solution would need to be replenished anyhow so you’d just add more hot water.

Question: does the heat the water or do you have to put hot water in it
Answer: this machine uses HeatWave Technology which helps to maintain the temperature of the water in the clean tank. We recommend using hot tap water but not boiling or microwaved water in the machine.

Question: is the machine heavy
Answer: No. Even with water in the tank, it is very manageable walking up and down the stairs.

Question: Can it be used on area rugs with hardwood flooring underneath?
Answer: While it should be safe, this will depend on how porous the area rug is.

Question: Where do I get brushes for bissell 1986 proheat 2x petpro? I can’t find it anywhere.
Answer: I do not know, have not had to replace yet. You might find it on bissell website

Question: What’s the difference between the proheat 2x revolution pet pro 1986 and the proheat revolution 1548?

Answer: the 1986 is the newer of the two models and features a front nozzle and the clean shot spray for spot cleaning

Question: Is it possible to use water only in the tank without the cleaning solution?
Answer: Definitely. I always end with water only to get all of the cleaner up. Our animals don’t do well with chemicals in their face all the time. I make my own cleaner that work well. My machine stopped working after a couple uses so good luck with yours!

Will this clean a stiff carpet IE woven fabrics not loose fabric.
Answer: Yes. The brushes are very good and counter rotate and provide a good scrubbing action. As long as the solution can get into the carpet you will have no problems.

Question: Would this also work well to steam clean tile floors?
Answer: I don’t see why not but I don’t have tile floors. You can call the company and they helped me a lot with mine.

Question: Does/can this function as a normal vacuum as well? For use on wood floors?
Answer: Nothing indicates you can do that with this model. There are two roller brushes that I think would scratch the finish. Doesn’t seem like it would hurt the machine, but I don’t know that for sure.

Question: My machine is not sucking in water. How do I fix that?
Answer: Is your machine under warranty. Send it back. If not, there is probably something that is clogging the system. You may see if there is a “handy person” who will work on it and take it apart to see what is going on. I am not a repair person, just a customer who has one of these machines.

Question: How is it picking up litter?
Answer: It does a pretty descent job. I’m very impressed with its performance overall. My house carpet looked spotless after using it and I’ll recommend it to anyone.

Question: I can’t seem to take out float stack anyone else have this problem?
Answer:  the float stack should remove by twisting it to the left to unlock.

Question: Does this machine easily get jammed up with pet hair?
